This supplement is intended to be read in conjuction with the original publication.
Construction Insurance (RS 208b) was published in December 1999 and while it remains still valid today, there have been changes which make the production of a supplement appropriate.
The Supplement includes renewal energy, risk from water damage to timber-framed buildings during construction, tunnels and earth moving, terrorism, new policy clauses which have evolved over the last decade, papers on offshore pipelines and risk engineering, as well as new legal cases or changed perspectives on existing cases.
Other sources of material included and acknowledged within the Supplement include from the London Engineering Group (LEG) and the work of the International Association of Engineering Insurers (IMIA)
The Insurance Institute of London (IIL), by far the largest in the UK, was established in 1907 and today has over 17,500 members. IIL's objective is to raise professional knowledge of those working in insurance and assist them in their career development through a combination of lectures, an annual journal and facilitation of Research Study Groups (RSG). RSG's are formed to research specialised areas of insurance. They are lead and their members are drawn from those with acknowledged expertise in the particular areas being researched. The comprehensive reports subsequently produced and published are highly regarded and well received both in London and around the insurance world.
